Isaiah 7: Ahaz and the Immanuel Sign
When Aram and Israel threaten Jerusalem, Isaiah urges King Ahaz to stay calm and trust God, since their plot will fail. Ahaz declines God's offer of a sign, so the Lord gives one: a virgin will bear a son called Immanuel. Isaiah also warns that Assyria will devastate Judah's land.
