2 Kings 16: Ahaz Turns to Assyria
Ahaz of Judah turns from the LORD, even sacrificing his son. Besieged by Aram and Israel, he pays the Assyrian king with temple treasure to rescue him, and Assyria takes Damascus. Ahaz then copies a foreign altar for the temple, sets aside the LORD’s bronze altar, and reshapes the temple for Assyria’s sake.
