Nehemiah, the priests, the Levites, and the leaders put their names to a written covenant, and everyone else swears to keep the Law given through Moses. They pledge to avoid marriage with the surrounding peoples, keep the Sabbath and the seventh year, and supply the temple with offerings and tithes.
