2 Chronicles 10: Rehoboam Rejects Wise Counsel

At Shechem the Israelites, joined by Jeroboam, ask Rehoboam to lighten Solomon’s heavy demands. He spurns the elders’ advice and answers harshly, which God brings about to fulfill Ahijah’s prophecy. The northern tribes break away and stone his labor chief, leaving him ruling only the Israelites in Judah’s towns.
