Chapters in Zephaniah

1. Zephaniah 1: The LORD's Great Day Draws Near

In Josiah's reign Zephaniah announces that God will judge the whole earth, beginning with Judah's idol worshipers and complacent rich. The LORD's coming day is close, a time of anger, gloom and ruin that no wealth can escape.

2. Zephaniah 2: Seek the LORD Before His Anger Comes

Zephaniah urges the shameful nation to gather and the humble to seek the LORD before His anger falls. He then announces judgment on Philistia, Moab, Ammon, Cush and proud Nineveh, promising the coastland and the lands of Moab and Ammon to the remnant of His people.

3. Zephaniah 3: Judgment on Jerusalem and Joy for the Remnant

Zephaniah condemns Jerusalem and its corrupt leaders for refusing correction, though the righteous LORD lives among them. After judgment, God promises to purify the nations' speech, preserve a humble remnant, delight over His people with song, and gather them home.
