As the kings of Canaan band together to fight Israel, the Gibeonites pose as travelers from a distant country and trick Israel into a peace treaty. Israel’s men fail to ask the LORD, but when the lie comes out the leaders keep their oath, sparing Gibeon and making its people cut wood and draw water.
