Chapters in Habakkuk

1. Habakkuk 1: Habakkuk Questions God

Habakkuk asks God why He lets violence and injustice go unchecked among his people. God replies that He is raising up the fierce Chaldeans as judgment, and Habakkuk asks how a holy God can let that wicked nation swallow up people less guilty than itself, catching them like fish in a net.

2. Habakkuk 2: The Vision and Five Woes

Habakkuk waits at his watch post, and God tells him to record a vision that will surely come at its set time. God contrasts the proud with the righteous person who lives by trusting Him and pronounces five woes on the greedy, violent, idolatrous conqueror; then all the earth is hushed before the LORD.

3. Habakkuk 3: Habakkuk's Prayer of Trust

Habakkuk prays for God to renew His works and show mercy in judgment, then describes God coming in power to save His people. Though he trembles and even if every crop and flock fails, he resolves to rejoice in God, who is his strength.
